Pet Cremation: communal
For Dogs, Cats, Rabbits · End-of-life care
With communal cremation your pet is cremated alongside other pets and the ashes are not returned. It is the option most people choose when they would rather remember their pet in another way, and it is the less expensive of the two.
About Cremation: communal in pets
If you do not want ashes back, this is a dignified and straightforward choice. Your pet is collected from us by the pet crematorium, cremated communally, and the ashes are scattered respectfully at the crematorium. Nothing is returned to you.
Choosing between the options
There is no right answer, and plenty of people find they do not want an urn in the house. Others very much do. Think about what will actually help you in six months’ time, not what you feel you ought to choose.
- Communal cremation – no ashes returned, less expensive.
- Individual cremation – your pet is cremated on their own and the ashes come back to you.
- Taking them home – you are welcome to take your pet home to bury, if you own the ground and can bury them deep enough.
Keepsakes
Even without ashes, you can usually have a paw print or a clipping of fur taken beforehand. Ask us – people very often wish afterwards that they had.
Taking your time
You do not have to decide immediately. We can care for your pet while you think it over or talk to the rest of the family. Just tell us you need time.
What it costs
The price is on our price list, by species and by weight for dogs. It is charged separately from euthanasia, and both are published so you can see the full cost in advance.
