Pet Repeat consultation
For Dogs, Cats, Rabbits, Guinea pigs, Small Rodents (Hamsters, Rats, Gerbils, etc.), Ferrets · Consultation & preventative care
A repeat consultation is a shorter follow-up for a problem we are already treating. It is the appointment for checking whether treatment is working, adjusting a dose, or taking the next step in a plan we have already agreed.
About Repeat consultation in pets
Once we have seen your pet for a problem, the follow-up appointments are usually repeat consultations. They are shorter than a first consultation because we already know the history – the job now is to see how your pet has responded and decide what happens next.
When this is the right appointment
- Checking how your pet has got on with a new medication.
- Rechecking a wound, an ear, an eye or a skin problem.
- Reviewing a long-term condition such as arthritis, diabetes or a heart problem.
- Taking the next step in a plan we have already talked through with you.
When it is not
If your pet has a new and unrelated problem, book a first consultation instead – the vet needs the longer appointment to examine them properly and take a fresh history.
What it costs
Repeat consultations are charged at a lower rate than a first consultation. The current fee is on our price list, alongside everything else we charge for.
