For Dogs, Cats, Rabbits, Guinea pigs, Small Rodents (Hamsters, Rats, Gerbils, etc.), Ferrets · Prescription, dispensing & administration
This is the reduced fee for each additional item prescribed at the same time as another medication. If your pet needs two or three things written up in one go, only the first is charged at the full rate.
About Prescription fee for additional items prescribed at the same time as another medication in pets
Pets on long-term treatment often need more than one medicine. Charging the full prescription fee for every item would not be fair when the vet is reviewing everything in one sitting, so additional items prescribed at the same time are charged at a lower rate.
How it works
- The first item is charged at the standard prescription fee.
- Each further item written at the same time is charged at this reduced rate.
- Come back a fortnight later for another item and it is a separate prescription at the full rate – so it is worth telling us everything you need while you are here.
Making it easier
If your pet is on several medications, ring a few days before you run out and tell us everything at once. It is cheaper for you, and it gives the vet a proper view of what your pet is taking.
What it costs
Both the standard fee and this reduced additional-item fee are published on our price list.
